NIPSS Collaborates With Customs To Boost National Development

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to enhance the nation’s development efforts.

During a recent visit to the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters in Abuja, Professor Ayo Omotayo, the Director-General of NIPSS, and his management team formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NCS, in line with the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s vision to strengthen alliances with key institutions.

The Acting CGC expressed his optimism that the upcoming CGC Annual Conference, which the NIPSS will be part of, will yield significant outcomes that will help the NCS fulfill its mandate effectively. He thanked the DG NIPSS for the fruitful collaboration, acknowledging the dedicated legal teams from both sides who worked diligently to finalize the MoU. He pledged to fully uphold the spirit and terms of the MoU.

Professor Ayo Omotayo, while explaining the rationale behind NIPSS’s engagement with the NCS, emphasized their commitment to supporting the NCS’s repositioning agenda. He encouraged the NCS to not only excel in revenue collection but also play a pivotal role in trade facilitation and the industrialization of various sectors in Nigeria’s economy.

Furthermore, the DG of NIPSS stressed the importance of data in modeling Nigeria’s future economy, emphasizing that the NCS should embrace data-driven approaches for economic development.

Both parties expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, foreseeing a new era of progress driven by joint efforts that will contribute to the nation’s advancement.
