What is your name Sir?
Dr Chukwu Joseph Chigbu, The Team leader of Doctors-On-The -Move-Africa and am a consultant of physician gynecologist and we are here at this hospital at Ifako Ijaiye and we are conducting a comprehensive medical out reach for Ikeja Federal Constituency and this involves Ikeja Central, Onigbongbo and Ojodu LCDA
You have been doing this for four days now what have you noticed so far?
It is actually Nine days now that we have being doing this, we have been talking to and treating a lot of patients.
What have you noticed or what are your thoughts so far?
It has showed that there is a great need for Nigerians and a great surgical burden on Nigerians because as a lot of them cannot afford to go the hospital and pay their normal charges, secondly there is dearth of manpower and even basis surgical needs. The project has a capacity to handle basic surgery needs and even major ones. So, we have been able to assemble distinguished professionals that are very knowledgeable and various specialist in varying fields of doctors -on-The-Move-Africa.
We have taken our time to do goiter surgeries and this are major surgeries and we have done 14 of them, we have done over 20 myomectomies and hysterectomies and the rest of it,
This are major surgeries that will cost between N2 to N2.5Million and all that free of charge and we have done over 80 hernia surgeries and then we have done over 45 cataract surgeries as we are still counting. It shows that the government needs to do more to capture Nigerians on the social health insurance scheme.
If they are effectively captured when they are ill or they need a surgical operation they can walk into a specialist hospital and get it fixed and pay for it. Even when they have the funds due to our believes or believe systems some of them are afraid of the surgery, some of them do not believe in some of the doctors they do not know.
Here for the first time, they see their sister to being operated and going back home as this gives them a lot of confidence and even the nurses working with us also bring patients from various places like Ogun state or outside of Ikeja Federal Constituency. It is practically difficult to operate all the patients even if we have to stay here for another one week. Already we have about 20 patients on our fibroid list that we will have to take care of another time if we come back.
From what you have seen and with the experience garnered, what is your advice to the Nigerian Federal Government towards humanity?
Very well, Health is a social service and it is the right of the citizens and am aware that the new President has promised that in the next four years they should be able to capture 70 million Nigerians on the social health insurance scheme and that will go a long way for us all,
Those who have the wherewithal like the politicians, faith-based organizations should have it in mind that there is a great need by the people hence they will need to key in into this kind of laudable projects as they can help feel in the gaps in the health care sector delivery systems of Nigeria.
What will you have to say as a word of encouragement to the Honourable James Abiodun Faleke?
This is made possible by the Right Honourable James Abiodun Faleke and he is the Chief sponsor for this project and it is the second time that we are doing it for the Ikeja Federal Constituency, not only that he has taken out time for us to train nurses and doctors on mental health and level of hygiene for the past four days.
This is along with the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Yaba and this means that he has demonstrated that he knows the needs of his people and has the passions to reach out to the less privileged people in the general society, destitute, people walking the streets that cannot be sorted out.
Other senators and Honorable members should try to emulate the feats attributable to Faleke as far as this project is concerned.
He has done well because he is a jolly good fellow because we are proud as a body of professionals to partner with him as we will continue to partner with him even into the years ahead.
AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST BEARS HIS MIND ON SUREGERY MADE FREE FOR ALL
What is your name, I mean kindly introduce yourself for the sake of the general public sir?
My name is Opro Sava, Consultant Ophthalmologist and am from the National Eye Centre in Kaduna
What are your feelings over this great gesture of his towards humanity as far as empowerment by the Honorable James Abiodun Faleke is concerned?
It is actually a very great gesture and the individual has tried a lot and like my own department alone we operated on 50 different patient and am still counting, both cataract and lesions
If one is to pay for this particular surgery it can be pretty expensive but all the people that have come here had their surgeries free and both the surgical intervention including the drugs and other services rendered were all free…
So far, the records received here has being very encouraging most of the patients have had their cataracts for a very long time and that way they did not have the kind of access that they will want for a good medical care but because of this project they have had the kind of interventions that they needed with most of them coming to have their surgery done without any need to pay for services rendered. I must say that it is really a very good gesture.
What is one of the major challenges that you might have come across or experienced in the course of operations for this program?
Usually, we have had some challenges emotionally people feel things that are free even had its own hurdles and so with something like surgical intervention initially people were not forthcoming as expected for surgery but after seeing what we were doing they were convinced because they have been here for the past eight days and they have seen the success
Do you have words of encouragement for Honourable James Abiodun Faleke?
We want to say a very big thank you and we also encourage him to continue to do the big and good work that he has been doing for his people.
How can your
advice in terms of input to the Nigerian Federal Government to help the people to provide good health facilities in Nigeria?
If all our members in the House can copy what the Honorable is doing it will go a long way at solving a lot of our problems in terms of our health-related issues.
He has been having this type of interventions for a very long time, I think if all of them can follow suit it will go very long way.

Good afternoon, Madam, can you just tell us your name and what this section means?
My name is Mrs. Grace Emmanuel Oga and am an Optician and I work with The Doctors -On -The- Move Africa.
I am the Special Aide on this eye section and the Honourable James Abiodun Faleke is the one that brought Us here through our boss here….
He said that we should come and see and speak with the masses here and truly speaking we really sympathize with the people and we thank the Honourable for being able to do this outreach for his people for the first time she is being opportune to be part of the team for 2023 project.
We used to come to do this kind of a thing as he has been inviting us as majority of the people are actually benefitting through the usage of glasses because any body that goes through any of our sections here must say that they wish to come and see what is happening with the eye and truly speaking they are benefitting.
We appreciate the Honourable and pray to God that he will continue to do what he is doing and may the lord increase him as he reaches the top in Jesus name.
Also, the people that know him they say that God blesses him and may God really do bless our Honorable.
We also appreciate him and hope that he won’t just finish this term very well but will come again in another tenure of office and continue to do this beautiful job for the people.

Good morning, Madam can you tell us what is really happening at this department
Good morning Fabulous Magazine and am my name is Honourable Joseph Adebayo Ronke, the pioneer Executive of the Ojodu LCDA under the able leadership and Chairmanship of Chief James Abiodun Faleke.
Concerning the empowerment program, that is going on here, can you really tell us how it has been?
We thank God for today, and even we have started from Ojodu but we actually started this from the 2nd of September, 2023 at Ikeja Local Government Area and at the Onigbongbo LCDA and Ojodu LCDA, so that the project can cover the whole Ikeja Federal Constituency. The project is very nice and it is about our health and we have been enjoying a lot of its benefit and even last year we heard from the Health Ministry officials in Abuja…
we have been enjoying it and even people from Ikeja Federal Constituency and we are praying for all the others to do well as this level of turn out of the public has never really happened before.
Look at it from this perspective as people who are doing surgery have done free surgeries such as eye surgeries, fibroid amongst others and I can assure you that the people are really enjoying its benefits.
We are praying for The President, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Honourable James Abiodun Faleke and we really thank them a lot for the assistance given to the people.
MA, I really think that you are seeing what is happening and so how did you feel when you were benefitting from it?
I benefited last year from this and I was treated for my Blood Pressure but today this is now regular and they gave me a lot of medicines or drugs last year and today the glasses that they gave me through this program me also and I really enjoyed it as I can see very clearly and today the glasses that they have given to me is doing okay and I can see very clearly as against the other glasses that I was using before now.
What do you have to say about the people that benefit from this program?
The people that benefit from this program today and even before should know that we are looking forward for more electoral votes from them because our only child is giving back to them or the general public for what they gave to him as votes on the election day and to the Federal Republic of Nigeria in which Ashiwaju was voted as President with Sanwo Olu as our Governor…
We thank God that our only child is doing his utmost best to give back to the masses and they are enjoying it and we are praying for him every single day.
Ma, you said that you are giving back to the general public but are you saying this to a particular political party or to all of them?
Right now, I am talking about the public which is the party and am not talking about the party right now as you can vote for any party that you like but the best party anywhere right now is the All-Progressives Congress [A.P.C.]and definitely anybody that is enjoying the benefits will vote very well next time as they can say to themselves that the party that has done this is a very responsible party.

May we know your name, Madam?
Good afternoon and I am Dr Oluwatobiloba and am a Senior Medical Officer of Ikeja LCDA and also with the Doctors- On -The- Move -Africa.
Can you tell us about your feelings on the Medical Empowerment in this constituency and the quality of response, so how has it been? I will say that it a very much welcome idea and this is not just ministering to the health needs of the people but it is also very beneficial to the course of humanity as well with a lot of people benefitting from it after coming here as they enjoy free surgical needs or free surgeries and also their Medical Needs attended to and some of them who have not being able to get their drugs.
Some have been able to fix their eye problems, get free drugs, get treated for long standing diseases, surgeries for cataract amongst others.
Are there healings that surprised you ever since this program started?
Some manners of cases that people have being hiding for years, chronic cases which they have not been able to receive any form of help for now being sorted out.
All manner of situations, chronic diseases being treated as all manner of problems have been sorted out as we have seen, including childhood diseases. So, it is a good project by Honourable Faleke as it touches the core of humanity and its needs and am sure that posterity will never forget him for the good works that he is doing for the people.
What is your advice to our people in appreciation?
I think they are lucky to have a leader who have been at the Centre of his acts and who is not just thinking of been in a position but also concern about offering services to the people who elected him and so I think that they are lucky to have such a person in their midst or collar.
What is your advice to other politicians?
As many who can adopt this should go ahead, I mean to be very honest people are going through a lot, as know form of services given to the people is too big or small hence should go on ahead and adopt this humane act and do just as much. .

A Liver cirrhosis patient, Mr. Mike Oludare Jimoh who is now undergoing treatment at his home in Egbeda -Lagos, Nigeria has joined a lot of Lagos residents to thank Honorable James Abiodun Faleke of the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja for the special recognition granted to them by giving them the chance to be treated for free at this year’s Medical out reach that he sponsored on their behalf.
Mr. Jimoh said that the ailment only started around May this year and this has resulted into a major swelling around his stomach region thus making him to breath faster on a daily basis and according to him the cocktail of drugs given to him at the event will make his swellings reduce to its barest minimum.
A source at the event pointed out that the patient will eventually require a liver transplant for him to be completely healed of his ailment.

good afternoon madame tell us briefly about what honourable Faleke has done for you?
He did what impressed us a lot of us everybody is happy with him. Because where I had gone to the General hospital previously to do this surgery, we calculated it to be at 950.000 naira and which I could not afford on my own, it was through one of my friends that i knew what was happening over here and I came here and they really took time to take care of us. all the doctors are very good as they really tried. I thank Hon. Dr. Faleke for helping to remove my shame as I was not able to go anywhere but because of this project I am able to do this. please help me to thank him very well and God should always give to his hands as she rained more prayers on Faleke. My name is oluremi and I am from Agbado Ijaiye. kafayat bakare I so much appreciate hon. Abiodun James Faleke, if we have 4 of Faleke’s in political things will be much better. He is a good man with a very big heart and I pray that God will be with him. I do hope that those other people waiting to be treated will get their turn. one of those recuperating she was operated alongside others in the room of fibroid.
