Over two million candidates are expected to sit both Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
The bann against remedial lessons comes as bad news to teachers especially now that most of them use those lessons to get a weekly honorarium.
This comes few days even as the parliament has stopped the implementation of the presidential working party recommendations citing lack of proper procedures followed by the Education Cabinet Secretary.
Competency-based curriculum is however taking shape in the education curriculum replacing the former 8:4:4 that has been in existence for decades. The new curriculum has however been noted to be expensive to most parents who have been struggling to raise learning materials.Teachers will now have to look for other alternatives of raising extra income.
