The Nigeria Police Force has officially initiated the recruitment process for individuals qualified to join the ranks of Police Constables in both the General Duty and Specialist Cadres. This recruitment drive represents a crucial phase in enhancing the force’s capabilities and effectiveness.
According to an official signed my the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted the Police Recruitment Board is all set to open the online application portal on October 15, 2023, providing an opportunity for aspiring candidates to be part of the nation’s law enforcement.
The online application portal will remain accessible for a six-week period, starting from October 15 and closing on November 26, 2023. Prospective applicants are required to complete the online application forms and submit them within the specified window through the official website, www.apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be of Nigerian origin by birth and hold the National Identification Number (NIN). Additionally, they should have a minimum of five credits in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO or equivalent qualifications, with credit passes in English and Mathematics. The age criteria stipulate that General Duty applicants must be between 18-25 years, while Specialist applicants should fall within the 18-28 years age bracket. Furthermore, candidates must meet medical, physical, and psychological fitness requirements. Male applicants should be not less than 1.67 meters tall, and females should be at least 1.64 meters tall, with a minimum chest measurement of 86 centimeters (34 inches) for males. It is also essential that candidates have a clean financial record and have not been convicted of any criminal offense.
The Specialist Cadres offer opportunities in various fields, including Medical Assistant (Junior Community Health Extension Workers – JCHEW), Veterinary Assistant (Relevant Certificate in Animal Health/Livestock), Band Section, Communications/Info-Tech Specialist, Driver/Mechanic, Marine, Plumbers, Masons, Painters, Tilers, Electricians, Welders, and Carpenters.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has issued a stern warning to all applicants, urging them to exercise vigilance and caution throughout the application process. He emphasized the need to be wary of fraudsters and individuals who may seek to exploit the recruitment process for personal gain. The IGP assured applicants that the Police Recruitment Board comprises dedicated and disciplined individuals who will ensure a transparent and merit-based selection process, free from corruption and other illicit practices. He stressed that the application and selection process is entirely free and will be conducted through official channels. Any unscrupulous activities should be promptly reported to the authorities for necessary action.
