During an interview, renowned Nollywood actress Funke Akindele shared her personal experience of going through a difficult period in her life when her breakup with her first husband became public. Reflecting on those challenging times, she opened up about contemplating ending her life.

In the interview with Chudeity, the businesswoman offered advice to women who are eager to get married, urging them to exercise patience and take their time in choosing a life partner. She emphasized that rushing into marriages can lead to hasty decisions and eventual regrets.

Drawing from her own failed marriage, Akindele disclosed, “I was eager to get married and do things right, including having children. However, my first marriage didn’t work out well, and it ended amidst a storm of public scrutiny. I received a phone call about it while I was filming, and it felt devastating. I was overwhelmed with emotions, and it affected my work, causing me to lose some valuable opportunities. But I refused to let it shatter me.”

Expanding on her perspective, the actress-turned-politician advised single women not to succumb to parental or societal pressure to get married. Instead, she encouraged them to enter into marriages based on genuine love and only have children when they genuinely desire to do so.

Akindele concluded her message by advising single women to ignore negative influences and focus on pursuing their own happiness.
