The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps( NSCDC) , Anambra State Command, Mr. Edwin Osuala has been conferred with the ” Most Outstanding Commandant of the Year ” by “The Forward News Media ” publishers of the Forward Magazine for displaying an exceptional work ethics and exhibiting traits of dedication, patriotism and outstanding integrity through his proactive efforts to combat crime in the state within his short stay in office.
Presenting the award at the State Command Headquarters Awka on Thursday, July 13 ,2023, the Publisher/ Editor – in- Chief of The Forward News Media , Okafor Vivien, in her introductory speech said the award was conferred on him after careful observation of the state commandant activities since he assumed office.
She continued “ We observed your daily actions since your arrival to the state. Your passion and zeal for a crime free state stands you out. You have exhibited the characteristics of focused and passionate commanding officer which has boasted the morale of NSCDC personnel in the Joint Task Force ( JTF) to sacrifice their sleep to ensure safety and peaceful environment for the public. This award therefore is to commend you and urge you to do more “.
Miss Vivien rated officers and men of the command high in their professional conduct as they have demonstrated high sense of diligence in carrying out their official duties.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Osuala thanked the media outfit for the recognition and honor accorded him. He expressed his appreciation to the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi,mni, OFR for the opportunity given to him to serve as Anambra State Commandant.
” I would like to dedicate this award to my Commandant General , and Anambra State Command Officers and Men for their support, for believing in me and for giving me an opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities and potential. On assumption of office, I was determined to implementing the CG’s robust plan to rebuild trust and confidence in the NSCDC and to drive through his urgent reforms and step change in law enforcement the public deserve” .
The NSCDC State boss described the award as challenge to do more and vowed to sustain and exceed security height achieved already in the state.
” We will not fail the people and government of Anambra State in our quest to make the state safe for living and business . NSCDC is poised to providing adequate protection of lives and property, including the country’s critical infrastructure. As the lead Agency in the Protection of Critical National Assets, we are working tirelessly to decimate to the barest minimum pipeline vandalism and illegal oil bunkering. We are determined to stop vandalism of power installation and telecommunication facilities. We had aside ridding the state of illegal and unregistered private security security outfits, brought professionalism to the industry in Anambra State” he said.
While commending the unflinching support of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State to the command , he added that the Corps will not allow any infraction on the part of officers and men in the discharge of duties, and appealed to members of the public to always avail the Corps credible information which would assist in providing measures against any form of attack on the nation infrastructure and its citizenry.
