The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,( NSCDC) Anambra State Command has advocated for a deeper partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS) to combat crime and limit the spate of illegal migration.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Anambra State Command, Mr. Edwin Osuala, gave the indication in Awka on Friday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Comptroller of Immigration, Anambra State, Mr. Edirin Endurance Okoto pcc.
Mr. Osuala said though partnership between NSCDC and NIS was cordial, a deeper relationship would make for an improvement in the protection of lives and property in the state. He however, commended the level of cooperation so far enjoyed since his arrival to the state, adding that there was a need to sustain the tempo to prevent criminal elements from entering the state .
” My purpose of my visit is to further strengthen the existing relationship between us and strive towards improving on it. We have a lot in common, apart from being in the same ministry of interior, we all do same job of ensuring that there is peace and order. We have had instances where your men assisted us in carrying out our operations and same with NSCDC . Such cooperation and understanding is what I seek to sustain” he said.
In his response, the Comptroller of Immigration, Anambra State Command, Mr. Edirin Endurance Okoto pcc, thanked the state Commandant for coming, and promised to accord him collaboration in the areas of protecting human lives and critical government infrastructure.
Mr. Edirin said without the Inter- agency cooperation, the security architecture of the state would have been overwhelmed by security lapses.
” This issue of security is for all , notwithstanding the fact that we have individual mandates, we do not have any choice than to support ourselves”
The State Commandant was accompanied on the visit by the Head of Private Guards Company Department; Deputy Commandant Francis Nnadi, Head of Investigation and Intelligence Department, Deputy Commandant, Dennis Reuben , Chief Superintendent, Pascal Anyanwu, PA to the State Commanant and Superintendent Awodun Adedayo, head of legal services unit among others.
