RE: LIVES ARE NOT LOST BECAUSE OF POWER OUTAGE IN LASUTH

by Admin

The management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), has come across a tweet  directed to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on the issue of the three month old power outage in the public facilities around Ikeja GRA.

The tweet ended with a presumptuous assertion that the outage has led to loss of lives in ‘Ikeja General Hospital’ which of course means LASUTH.

We will like to confirm that of a truth, our hospital has not had power supply from our solitary supplier, the Independent Power Project in the last three months or so. However,  it is patently  untrue that the situation has led to unnecessary loss of lives in our hospital.

The hospital management, in order to ensure hitch free operations, runs its many generators daily with only staggered brief intervals to allow cooling of the generators so as to be able to function at optimal levels.

As a responsible hospital management,  we have kept our essential services running, ensuring that all the critical areas of the hospital are prioritized for generator  power supply.

It is also worthy of note that, Mr Governor has recently approved funds for the hospital’s reconnection to PHCN. With this, normalcy will soon be restored.

We appeal to our patients and other clients to bear with us.

LASUTH Management.
