In line with the vision of the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD., mni, to stamp out oil pipeline vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage in the entire country, the Lagos State Commandant, Commandant of Corps Keshinro Adedotun Sunday has once again demonstrated, his readiness and commitment to ensure total compliance and zero tolerance to the menace, by parading another crop of elements, who were caught in the very act of vandalism, at Baruwa, Egbe – Idimu, in Alimosho Local Government Area of the state, today, Friday, 19th January, 2024.

Upon the receipt of credible and actionable intelligence about the suspicious movements of some dangerous and unscrupulous elements, on Wednesday, 17th January, 2024, at about 2130hrs in the aforementioned axis above, the Antivandal Unit of the Command swung into action following the directive of the Lagos State Commandant, with a mission to nip the suspected criminals in the bud.

The Antivandal operation activated to halt the elements from carrying out their nefarious activity led to the arrest of five ( 5 ) suspects, one at large ( names withheld ), who were caught in the dastardly act of vandalizing pipelines situated in Baruwa carrying petrol from Atlascove to Mosimi, on Thursday, 18th January, 2024 at about 0135hrs.

The exhibits recovered from the crime scene are underlisted below;

One ( 1 ) generator
One ( 1 ) pumping machine
Cable wire
One ( 1 ) stabilizer
One ( 1 ) shovel
One ( 1 ) sledge hammer
Sacks and keg corks
One ( 1 ) yellow mini-bus(korope) with Registration number KRD 572 YH.
Thirty-Nine (39) empty kegs.
Two ( 2 ) ITEL small phones
One ( 1 )-CALLUS small phone
Two ( 2 ) big Android phones.

The Lagos State Commandant in a bid to send stern warning to vandals, cohorts and sponsors of such heinous crimes in the state also visited the crime scene today, Friday, with the Head of Antivandal Unit, Deputy Commandant of Corps AJ Musa and some media team to ascertain the level of sabotage and destruction done by these unscrupulous elements.

The Lagos State Commandant, Commandant of Corps Keshinro Adedotun Sunday took the opportunity to disclose that the four ( 4 ) apprehended suspects have been immediately brought to the Command’s Headquarters to face thorough investigation and upon completion of investigation they will be prosecuted and made to face the full wrath of the law while the suspect at large was still being trailed by our very proactive intelligence team.
