It is no surprising news that Pastor IGEBU DUKE, the P.A to DR BETTA EDU was detained for 42 days by the police for not transfering #400 million naira that was meant for COVID-19 back to Dr Beta Edu’s account. According to the alleged charge by BETTA EDU, the #400 million naira was money from President Tinubu to her for women campaign during the 2023 election, but the said #400 million naira transfer was made in 2020, meant for the supplies of COVID-19 materials, which was never carried out. Pastor IGEBU DUKE Instituted a case in the High Court against Dr Beta Edu for illegal detention through his lawyer. The former Governor of the State Ben Ayade intervened in and was settled out of court. According to Pastor Duke, he had made two different transfer of this money in two tranches, the first one was #200 million. & the second was #150 million precisely & the #50 million was his own share which Beta demanded seriously to get it back.
Then came the most damaging aspect of her service which was the shameful gross mismanagement of COVID-19 pandemic in Cross River State. It was appalling that a supposed medical doctor could carry the mantra that CRS was COVID-19 free in spite of all the evidence presented by seasoned professionals in the state teaching hospital. As a result, so many people died preventable deaths. The nation witnessed her show of ignorance on Channels Tv & Arise Tv when she didn’t understand the state’s management of COVID-19. A supposed medical doctor who didn’t know what a ventilator machine looked like but went on posting pictures of anesthetic machines on media claiming they were ventilator machines.
Based on her gross incompetence. The Nigerian Medical Association Cross River State declared her a persona non grata and issued a vote of no- confidence on her. She was charged to the medical court in Irua Benin by the NMA CRS.
It’s on this that it was discovered that she never passed primaries to practice medicine even after four attempts. There were only 33 doctors in CRS service & she posted 109 doctors in service. She posted pictures of renovation works that never existed & we are watching and still clapping. hands for false presentation. Fake Identify, fake election results. Tinubu scored only 12 votes in her polling unit but she lied and posted fake polling unit results that she even had more votes than Senator John Owan Enoh in the Central.
Perhaps the worst effects are seen in the Cross River State Ministry of Health where Betta Edu held the reins of power for 8 years, first as the Director-General of PHCDA and then as the Commissioner for Health.
A neophyte who was barely out of medical school & has never passed primaries to practice medicine was appointed commissioner by Ben Ayade into delicate positions, she exhibited the peculiar traits of immaturity, inexperience and incompetence that led to the collapse of the Cross River Health sector.
First was the blatant inflation of contracts and non-execution of the same contracts when she manned the PHCDA. The media was inundated with lies and audio projects carried out by her. When interested citizens went to sight these projects, they were faced with the bitter truth that there were actually no Health centers built. Most primary health centers were without basic consumables for rural indigents. President Buhari signed the Basic Health Fund which afforded funds for primary health care directly. Hundreds of millions of naira were entrusted to her agency but these funds were embezzled without restraint. Governor Ayade looked away because they were both in league. She was among his kitchen cabinet of appointees and did as she pleased without fear of God. so.many people died preventable deaths. government suffered from the gross mismanagement of the previous government.
We are busy clapping our hands refusing to speak out waiting to blame Tinubu. Tinubu is not a spirit. CRS stand up, A woman from another state should not put us to shame by claiming your state.
