Richard Kasumu representing Ikaje constituency 2 at the Lagos State house of Assembly, Alausa ikeja, Lagos was recently included alongside other states legislators in the State that was inaugurated. In this piece, Editor-in-chief Jane Osamor was at the event as she monitored the politician being elected as deputy majority leader of the assembly with the astute politicians appreciating the electorates for finding him worth to be re-elected for another four years. The speaker of the house, rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa was re-elected the 6th time as a member and re-elected the 3rd time as the speaker of the house.

What is your name, madam?
Alhaja Stella Olushola Kokumo, the LGA chairman, Ojodu LCDA and the National Co-ordinate WASC.
Good day madam, today we are here for the inauguration of the 10th Lagos State house of Assembly members, especially that’s of hon. Richard Kasunmu. How will you describe today’s event?
My regards to todays event because he did well for his constituency and they in turn love him so well. I want him to keep standing tall to hold firm to his hardworking nature at all times as it will pay back. So, we are so very proud of him and my prayers for him as he is sworn in today is that God almighty be with him and uphold him and make him as greater than before in everything.
What is your advice to him as a member of the State house of Assembly?
My advice is that he should give back to we that voted him in into the office because 4years is just by the corner. He should please give back to his constituency as he used to do.
Is their any particular thing that you are looking up to him to do in his constituency?
We are looking up to him in areas of our youth’s empowerment & women empowerment, All of our youth’s that are looking for job’s that he should please use his good position to help them, which he as being doing but we need his support in this area’s more like never before. Though we know that he cannot do everything for us but it’s our hope that he will leave to a great expectations.
How do you feel about his not doing well before?
It is not that he did not do well, you know that we human beings are always requesting for more as we are like Oliver Twist. So, I pleads with him that in terms of the youth’s engagements as it concern empowerment he should try and put more effort. We have a lot of our children that are also unemployed and we are aware that there are a lot of employment going on in the State he should please try and use his good office and power to help us get some of this for our people. So also, we the elderly people we should make ourselves happy. In terms of road construction, I know that he is a law maker who cannot construct any type of road but he, should use his power, his position to bring up this things to our constituency. He should please bring a lot of innovation using his powers to the people of Ojodu LCDA we know it is not in his rights to pair roads but He can use his position to fight for it from the office of the Governor.
