Quintessential and aristocratic businesman, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi the Chairman of Sifax Group has showered encomiums on the Nigerian voting populace. The founder of Marriot Hotels and Suites Ikeja rendered his voice at an exclusive interview with High Celebrity Squard Magazine after exercising his electoral mandate on Saturday the 18th of March, 2023 at his Osborne Offshore Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos.
In his remarks, D. Afolabi affirmed that the election was peacefully conducted and hw is happy that people came out to exercise their franchise explaining further that though the process may not be entirely smooth but overall, it was a success and kudos to the organizer, INEC. Explaining further of security, Afolabi said “I think from the looks of things, everything is going well. I don’t think there’s any complain. You cannot have 100% without any hitch but with all am getting, I believe everything is going on smoothly. We have security operatives deployed everywhere and they are all doing there jobs perfectly monitoring both human and material resources for the election”
While asked about some places where electoral violence were reported, Dr. Afolabi commented that “I think that is barbaric. I won’t. E party to that and I think that is overzealousness. It shouldn’t have happened. People don’t need to kill themselves. They should just go out and perform their civic rights. You don’t have to be violent. I watched what happened in Ago Palace Way, Okoya and I am not party to that. This election is not a do or die, everybody should go out and vote for their governor. Dr. Taiwo Afolabi also advised security operatives to monitor everyone diligently in all the polling units to ensure the safety of lives. We cannot get it hundred percent well like I said earlier but with what is on ground, we have done well.
Speaking on the election as it affects Lagos State, the boardroom czar affirmed that “I believe in Sanwo-Olu and am hundred percent sure that he will win because I believe he has done what we all expected of him and we should give him the second chance”. Dr. Taiwo Afolabi also expressed that he knew Governor Sanwo-Olu to be a performer who would surely improve on his first term blueprint. On his expectation for the new incoming government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s president, Dr. Afolabi said “what I expect is that all the governors and all other elected officers must do the right thing because Nigerians have been agitating for good leadership. We should all join hands to help Asiwaju because he’s a master strategist and a leader who has the ability to identify the right person to be in the right places.” He concluded
