Meeting with Bishop Joseph Edoro Ighalo, general overseer of Touch from heaven ministries, whom as showed a lots of concerns on the out break of cholera spreads, this cholera diseases as being killing people in Nigeria, like he said that we need to go back to the covid practices by covering our nose and washing our hands under a running water and applying sanitizer at intervals. what do you have to say on this cholera outbreak and what cautions should be taken?
When it comes to cholera out break or viral diseases like this, you know obviously where it’s coming from because if there is no clean water, no good hygiene no wash of hands, also know this, it to show that the economy is not doing well people are going to the extra mile to do what they are not suppose to do, people are hungry. They could go to the extra mile to eat fixes, the reports they are saying is that it’s from tiger nuts, of cause what do you excepts, no good water and the people who want to prepare tigers nuts will just prepare it at their back yard of their homes. there is little that federal government can do in such circumstances, government can not monitor all of it, and this is were we have problems the out break of cholera in Nigeria today is real and so we all has to do the covid thing now by the use of our faces masks personal hygiene, consistently washing of your hands under a running water, for the men your shaking of hands with people that comes a cross you everytime when you get back home or office wash your hands too. and apple sanitizer, its out on sale again now you know it, naturally, we Africans we don’t have personal hygiene in, only few people knows that when you came back from work you need to sanities properly, in you office sanities you hands more often because most of this gems comes from person to person contacts. It’s real! people should know that the cholare the government’s are talking about it’s real and we most avoid it, teach children how to wash they hands, teachers should also teach the students how to wash they hands under a running water properly. We are back to that same principles of covid should be applied by the ways of personal hygiene.
Don’t you think that this teaching of personal hygiene should go down to the grassroots by engaging the government?
The government’s are already doing that, already synthesizing the people preaching about it streets to roads, schools and in market place’s teaching them how to get it done, like the STOP THE CHOLERA, with clean water and good hygiene practices,
- Make water safe for usage.
- Prepare safe food.
- Keep toilets clean.
- Wash your hand under a running water.
And the treatment of cholera drink I satch of ORS, mixed with 1 litre of water. I give them kudos and thumbs up for this project they have now contained it from a particular direction where it comes from so that it does not spread. so, for me they are doing well in that direction. Once the presidency are involved already that means it a serious matter that should be handled with care, because if it over spread or flow it will not be funny at all, and it might be an issue.
Sir, what do you have to tell the people selling by the road side food and the consumers?
The issue is the road side food has become a norm this days because what we are going through, the economic downturn, you tell somebody not to go to the road side for food he will still go because that is the cheapest place to find food to eat for that day, and road side food is virtually taking water from the gutter because you can not tell, virtually fetching water from the gutter and people have to eat, your talking about road side food now,
Tomatoes is very expensive as at today, the rotten tomatoes is trending, the worse ones of rotten tomatoes is what they are using now. so, all of that they carry their own issues, what are you going to do, or are we going back to those days that we put alum into water and waits for the gems to settle down before usage, how are you going to stop them from selling roadside foods? There is hungry and yet the cholera is killing people from it, so it like in a state of nature nobody knows what to do if government says today all the roads sides food sellers should be short down, you will protest, I will protest as am there now have not eaten and I prefer mama put so what are we going to do about it, it’s a big problem, and uncontrollable right now,
You’re advice to the state governmentin and the citizenry?
Lagos state government is doing well in that areas and the federal are doing their best in managing it supporting all the state to ensure it doesn’t go farther than this. Thanks.
