The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a significant increase in revenue collection for the first half of 2024, generating N1.02 trillion between January and June.

This represents a 143% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

According to Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, the command’s efforts at promoting trade facilitation and preventing revenue losses have yielded positive results.

The command also made significant seizures of prohibited items, including expired and unregistered pharmaceuticals, frozen poultry products, and other goods with a Duty Paid Value of N424 million.

Olomu warned perpetrators of smuggling and duty evasion that the command is poised to prevent illicit importation and urged stakeholders to continue working together to achieve a better second half for 2024.

He commended the support of sister government agencies and the Comptroller-General of Customs for their leadership and support
