All set for Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II to reclaim his throne as the Emir of Kano.
In a dramatic turn of events, the Kano State House of Assembly has decided to dethrone the current Emir and abolish the four new Emirates created under a controversial 2019 law.
Although it’s not officially announced yet, sources confirm that Sanusi II has been reinstated and he is expected to arrive in Kano on Friday.

The decision to reinstate Sanusi II came after the Assembly passed a Bill to undo the restructuring of the Kano Emirate.

According to the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa, “the Bill has been sent to the Governor for assent, and there is no longer an active Emir in Kano or any of the five Emirates.”
The law now allows the Governor to call upon the traditional kingmakers to choose a new king, and we all know who that will be – Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II!
