LAGOS NSCDC AVERTS OIL PIPELINE EXPLOSION, DESTRUCTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTY, THWARTS ATTEMPTED VANDALISM OF NNPC PIPELINES IN ALIMOSHO.

In line with the zero tolerance of the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD., mni, OFR, to all forms of economic sabotage in our dear nation, Nigeria, the Lagos State Command of the service, yesterday, Thursday, 16th November, 2023, succeeded, in averting, what would have led, to oil explosion, destruction of lives and property, thwarted, attempts of unscrupulous elements, to vandalize the oil pipelines, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPC ), along Arida axis, Omo – Onile, in Liberty Estate and its environs, Alimosho Local Government Area.

The residents ( names withheld ) of the aforementioned, environment above alerted, the Command, of leaked petroleum products, which almost caused, panic, fear and shut down of some business activities and schools, yesterday, 16th Thursday, November, 2023.

The personnel of the command, stationed, at NNPC Right of Way ( RoW ), were directed, to immediately, move to the scene, by the State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, MFR, fdc, to ensure adequate security and safety of lives and property of the affected, environment and neighborhood.

The NNPC maintenance team came to the scene later in the afternoon, after being duely, notified, by the Command. Maintenance operation was carried out on the lines, to repair the compromise attempts made, by suspected vandals at the exact point.

However, the operatives of the Corps had earlier cordoned, the affected area away from the reach of perturbed residents and unscrupulous elements, who might have intended, to convert the ugly situation into an untoward advantage for themselves.

The Lagos State Commandant, Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, had therefore, directed, immediate 24/7 vigilance, surveillance, patrol and monitoring of the area to avoid further compromise.

He also seized, the ample opportunity, to seriously, warn vandals to desist from the act as the command will not rest on its oars to making sure that saboteurs are brought to book.

The Lagos State Commandant also appreciated, the inhabitants, of the community, for offering prompt credible and actionable intelligence, to the Command, to avoid what would have had a direct negative and sad impact on them, their community and the state as a whole.
