kindly Introduce yourself madam?
I am Chief MRS Lucy Ajayi, Ex-Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos International Trade Fair, a member of the presidential subcommittee team, a grassroot politician and also a member of the APC party team and card bearer.

how do you feel been recognised for good works and your contributions to the development of the nation’s?
I feel so happy, I’ve received a lot of awards in the time past and still being recognised, I’ve also rejected several once as well. I appreciates all of it and it’s calls for more work. and most of the Awards I gets was due to hard work as I hate failures for someone to be trailing me she got me on the spot for recognition. Everything I do is anchored on God. One of my father in the church said congratulations to me, When one of my father’s in the lord said any award gotten after one tenure in an office is a genuine award.
I was in CPC but did not know Buhari in my country only from outside, I will say this is a man not appreciated enough here in Nigeria, before anyone told me about Buhari it’s was when I came back form south Africa in 2009, someone told me about his party and I tried to follow it up but somebody else spoke negatively about it while someone said positive things about CPC and I started, it’s was interesting to me getting into politics. I took it like I was a second class citizen in south Africa it was even a shame that somebody else in south Africa was telling me about Buhari. South Africa women are more organized than our women in Nigeria when it comes to the field of politics, I can feel who I am, if we can do same here then we can go far better, the only way to do same is to be a full time politician.

You cannot do politic when you’re outside there and women in politics over here needs to be more committed to politics so they will grow better, because if you don’t grow, nobody will give you any appointments. Before we were inaugurated we were about five women but by the time we were to have a verdict, I was the only one standing it was a full time job cause I have to meet with the people, organize things as you did not leave it to the touts as you have to put in a lot of effort into it to make sure it works, when you build a woman you’re building a nation. You have to work to attract people, a personality, and captains of industries as the people you get attracted to yourselves matters. I had to bring in people so we can salvage the country as we have more than enough, more so when you’re on the field it’s a different ball game entirely, what you have differs from when you’re on the field. I didn’t tell you before I became a politician I was a model and I ran a model agency before I travelled, I was once a personal manager handling over 120 members of our staff with all of them being men in the cooperate firm that I worked with, from my past experiences, I can manage people. Hence I do not condemn anybody. people always say something’s about me that you meet anybody that does not common it’s was when I meet with Lucy Ajayi, but our fellow female discouraging women in politics, I do not think that this is correct except if somebody wants to use it to get out of the question, the only thing I know which I have to speak on was what I said at the vanguard newspaper women forum, I had said that I will not vote for a woman because you’re a woman, I won’t vote for a woman in another party except you have an all female’s party that is formed because if I’m in APC. And that is what they are advocating for I won’t vote for a woman in another political party as will amount to anti-party, we do not have the financial muscle to march up with a man except you have a godfather. you also need a godfather, I told anyone who cares to listen that I will not go for an elective position but will prefer an appointment since I’ve been In politics, because you can’t be a politician without having securities. Women who attract men always have the habit of inducing women, will a woman have the heart to kill another man because of position cause if you can’t kill you can’t get an elective position, I said I won’t go for elections but I will help to enthrone them and they will give me appointment. If the women are fighting for position who become the godfather whether they are thugs or uniform men, you must have to get security details in place that was why from day one I secured my elective position. I’m going for a competition a man is going any woman who has slept with a man to get to the top will not get far it’s also a similar situation in modelling agency, I tell my model that how many people did you sleep with? hence the issue of integrity is vital.

I’ve been in politics, most women in politics induce the men and when you compete with a man the men who have had you will not want you to go up the ladder or seat in the Same meeting with you, they told several women do not be desperate cause some people think that once you’re a model you’re a prostitute, It isn’t true you have different stages to get that job. I have to shortlist you, the agency will shortlist if it’s hinted to another agency will shortlist you there, there’s really no form of occupation we have that there is no Promiscuity depends on the individual. You go to a meeting and you see a lot of people wearing revealing things I don’t know what Buhari saw in me as I saw people who where very wealthy in life and they showed it. Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff who has so many oil wells and he was in that same room with me for six months in a Ikimi’s place for three months when we were begging for 200,000 working allowance Ali Modu Sheriff was willing to give us as much as 5million all of us were working to make history as part of the 18 people that work for the merger of the political party which became the ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS(APC).
People started respecting me and hold me in great esteem some were already dreaming during the mergers of be coming ministers. there was a report of a fake APC the governor’s were complaining that we were foot dragging some of our women went because they wanted to meet with a top politician. More often than not We are the ones looking for the governor’s when you hear them, talk about the women you’ll know that they are tired of us, we’re the one looking for them you are just being carried away with work as people knew they had to face their constituencies.

It’s easier for us to mobilize, ladies are potentials for good, positive things I know that women are better than our men as they will mingle with all around them. When I was in CPC we were able to mobilize people at the grassroots because we offered them refreshments. when a man comes to meet you for the first time you could think that perhaps he wants to chase you. I had 20 local government, 3 large group of LCDA under me as far as Owode In Ogun state under me and from there they will listen to you and the women will take part the more, will a man comes to pick you out of the house when your husband is at home? but a woman can pick up just anybody, I think we should be more involved and then we can grow. What we were doing is to encourage the fact we told some of our grassroot people to encourage their wards to be fully educated, when I see some of our women at the national assembly I give them kudos as they needed to have a support base. except if you have a party that’s fully women it will be difficult to get in a woman and then we can start to fight. There is one of our friend who wanted to contest in kogi, she is late Alhaji Abubakar Audi, wife and I was told she was not an APC member that is after she had showed me her APC card.

I do not know why we have the mentality though, and for the women what they will gain because when you train a woman well she takes the training into a professionals level, my father trained me well and said to me not to talk about money, he was always conscious of me not spoiling the families name. I entered into politics without telling my late father or my husband. when the merger people started coming in, if you see the petitions they wrote against me in Lagos.
If you see our women having a meeting they’ll lock up shop’s, our elite will rather play games.

Even on my 50th birthday in 2018 my father told people he had warned and I shouldn’t spoil his name.

When I told my husband of what I was doing he was surprised but I told him I had gotten something doing. I was a delegate at kosofe Yemi event and there was a dispute in the list that was used, infact I had to walk on my foot to the house. So if I was an elective person will I not stayed, so I just like myself for the choice I have made. my husband has been very supportive but it was not easy convincing him, I still make use of my old tailor, my presents status hasn’t changed me in any way. When I tell them I don’t have money to pay immediately, she will say I shouldn’t worry, So that is it.
Thank you.
