Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, recently responded to Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s criticism of PDP candidate for Edo State governor, Asue Ighodalo.

Ighodalo had received backlash after Oshiomhole made a remark criticizing him for not being able to speak his native tongue.

Momodu discussed the matter in a video that Arise TV released. He continued by talking about the difficulties he would encounter if he decided to run for Edo State governorship seat.

He mentioned that even though he is frequently asked to run for governor, he always says no, citing his own limited ability of the local tongue as a barrier.

Quoting Dele Momodu, “When people ask me why can’t you contest to be governor in Edo State, I say no; they will disqualify me automatically. They will say I can’t speak the language. Is there a language of Edo State?

“What is the language of Edo? Do we speak only one language in Edo?. For me, what Comrade Oshiomhole did yesterday was bad.”
