Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has responded to Edwin Clark’s claims that he is using his connection with President Bola Tinubu to intimidate Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.
In an open letter to the PDP, Clark had called for Wike’s expulsion, accusing him of undermining Rivers State’s stability through his conflicts with Fubara.
During a media briefing marking his first year as FCT Minister, Wike challenged Clark’s assertions.
According to Daily Post, he argued that facing and managing crises is a fundamental part of leadership.
“In leadership, everything must not be smooth; I had my own crises when I was in office. Did I blame anybody? No,” Wike said.
He emphasized that Fubara should confront his current challenges as part of his role as governor.
Wike also addressed past criticisms from Clark, who had previously opposed his 2014 gubernatorial bid, citing it was the turn of the Ijaw ethnic group. Despite this opposition, Wike won the election.
“I wasn’t a bad person when I supported an Ijaw man to be governor, but I have become a bad person because of these issues,” Wike noted.
