Gov Sani Urges Organizers Of #EndBadGovernance Protest To Stop Hidingon 3 August 2024

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has criticized the organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protest for failing to take an active role in leading the rally against the Nigerian government.

According to Governor Uba Sani, the organisers kept themselves hidden instead of taking charge of the protest, allowing young people from less privileged backgrounds to take the lead.

In an interview with BBC Hausa on Saturday, the governor expressed his belief that the protest organizers should have guided the youth and restrained those who took advantage of the situation to engage in looting and other criminal activities.

Governor Uba Sani stressed the importance of the protest leaders physically participating in the demonstrations they had called for, particularly to provide guidance and prevent opportunistic actions.

He emphasized that their absence during the protest meant that they were not there to advise the youth, and as a result, the children of the poor ultimately took part in the protests.

The governor said: “We that came out and led the protest then, we were arrested. We never allowed the youths and other members of the public who participated in protests with us to be arrested. We were the ones that were arrested.

“If you’re calling for a protest, you that is spearheading should come out. They have been talking on social media, but they were not there during the protest.

“If they had been around, it would’ve been better because, at least, they would’ve cautioned the youths who burgled people’s shops and looted. But they did not come out. Their children did not. It’s the children of the poor that came out during the protest. I think that’s not proper
