Rivers People Can Continue To Serve Oluwa Wike; Kogi People Will Never Serve Oluwa Wike – Dino Melaye

by Admin

Former Nigerian senator Dino Melaye has made a bold statement, asserting that he and the people of Kogi State will never submit to Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a video posted by Symfoni on YouTube, Melaye accused Wike of attempting to place himself in a godlike position of power.

Melaye criticised Wike’s perceived self-importance, suggesting that the people of Rivers State may choose to align with Wike because of political advantages, but this was not the case in Kogi.

He implied that the Rivers people might need Wike’s support for personal or political gains, but for the people of Kogi, his influence holds no weight.

Melaye questioned the relevance of Wike’s support in election outcomes, particularly within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He recalled the victory of Ademola Adeleke as Osun State governor, which occurred without Wike’s endorsement.

According to Melaye, this proved that success in elections doesn’t hinge on Wike’s approval or support, suggesting that Wike’s political power may be overestimated.

The former senator also pointed out that Wike’s involvement in other states’ elections had not yielded positive results.

He highlighted how Wike had backed candidates in various states, such as Sandy Onu in Cross River and Bassey Albert in Akwa Ibom, but both candidates ultimately lost.

Melaye used these examples to further question Wike’s supposed influence in the political landscape, noting that Wike’s financial backing did not secure victories for his preferred candidates.

Melaye expanded on this criticism by highlighting the failure of the former governors in the G5 group, a political faction that included Wike.

He pointed out that several of Wike’s close allies, including Samuel Ortom of Benue State and the former governors of Abia and Enugu states, all failed in their bids to become senators after leaving office.

To Melaye, this was evidence that Wike’s influence is far less potent than it appears.

Melaye said, “Rivers people can continue to serve Oluwa Wike, but Kogi people will never serve Oluwa Wike.

“We will never serve any god, and he has forgotten that God is the supreme controller of the universe.

“God is the one who gives power. God is the one who ordains kings. God is the one who will make governors, not Nyesom Wike. And moreover, today, ask yourself, What is the value of Wike’s support?”
