Azeez who are now Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP); CSPs Sola, Joshua Omololu Adewalehinmi, Oladele Shola Bamidele, Akinjide Alabi, Omololu Oni, and Adolf Ogwu who are now Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP); and SPs Anthony Adeyinka Obayomi, Adetunji Fisayo, Peter Oluwadare Ayileke, and Monday Aibokhae Omo-Osagie who are now Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP).

In his address at the decoration ceremony, the AIG in charge of Zone 2 Police Command, AIG Adegoke Fayoade remarked: ‘This is a thing of joy to the Police management and a thing of joy to you and the family. We should give kudos to our Inspector-General of police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun for ensuring that officers are promoted when due. Promotion is purely based on merit. You are here because you merit the promotion. You should be grateful to God for the opportunity, that you are promoted when due, and we should also be grateful to God for the honor you are having this morning.’

The Zone 2 Police chief tasked the 12 officers, ‘Promotion brings responsibility, it comes with a challenge, it comes with the burden that you must go out to wherever you’re posted and produce the best. Discharge your duty in the manner that is very satisfactory. Discharge your duty in the manner that will give a good image to the Nigeria Police Force, discharge your duty in the manner that the member of the public will be happy with you.’

‘You must see yourself as a problem solver, because issues will come to you, problem will come to you, so if the members of the public come to you, let them come with the mindset that, as I’m in the presence of this officer I know he’s going to solve this problem, don’t let them see you as an officer that will pervert Justice, that will not say the truth, that will see white and call it black. If you have been like that before, as you have attained a bigger rank, you must have a change of attitude – both in the office, and even outside the office.’

‘You have a lot to do as a member of the Force, you have a bigger responsibility of ensuring that the image of the Force is improved, every little thing you do reflects on the Nigeria Police. The man you attended to his case very well, objectively and sincerely will go out and tell the whole world that officer will not do anything different from what the law says. Go out there and project the image of the Force on a positive light because we have a lot to do to improve the image of the Force, we have a lot to improve the perception of the members of the public.’

‘Go out and be a good ambassador of the Force, a good representative of the Force that will continue to do what is positive that will directly put the image of the Force in a positive light. I wish you all the best in your new posting. God will continue to be with you and direct you to do what is right’, AIG Adegoke Fayoade said.

Responding on behalf of the new Promotees, DCP Shehu Alao appreciated the AIG, the CP of Ogun State and other senior officers who are physically present at the event as he assured: ‘We will live up to our expectation in the area of facing challenges and in the various areas of responsibility. We are ready for that sir. Thank you very much sir.’
