The Police at the Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, Lagos Island, Lagos have arrested a 29-year-old staff of an old generation bank in Marina, Lagos Island, Lagos, Damilola Afolabi and charged her before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court accused of fraudulently withdrawing the sum of N21 million from the account of her employer.
She was accused of converting the money to her use without authority
The police said the defendant was arrested on the ordered of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP in charge of Area ‘A’ Command, Lagos Island, Lagos following a complaint by the management of the bank.
And after investigation by Inspector Ibrahim Abdulrafij and team, Afolabi, a resident of Zamba Street, Lawanson, Lagos was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island, on a four-count charge bordering on fraudulent withdrawal and stealing.
Police prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Hafsat Ajibode informed the Court in the charge marked M/17/2024 that the Afolabi committed the offence in February 2024 at the bank’s headquarters.
Ajibode told the court that the defendant used her position as a staff of the bank to unlawfully withdrew the sum of N21 millio from the account of her employer and and converted the money to her use.
