A video has emerged online showing the moment when some angry residents of Imosan community in Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State, chased scores of Fulani herdsmen out of their town.
The villagers who trooped out in their numbers were seen escorting the herdsmen out of their community. The herdsmen duly complied as they moved hundreds of their livestock away from Imosan.
This incident took place today, Sunday 13th June 2021. One of the residents was heard saying, “we do not want these herdsmen in our town. Imosan is a peaceful town—we don’t want trouble.”
It is worthy to note that there was no prior altercation or clash between the villagers and the Fulani herdsmen. The people of the community just want to maintain the peace they are currently enjoying and they believe accommodating the herdsmen might be detrimental to their security.
This decision taken by the villagers Ijebu-Imosan is coming few days after dozens of people were killed in Igangan, Oyo State.
