Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed his happiness in coming to meet the former Niger Delta warlord and Chief of Kalabari, Alh. Asari Dokubo at the Novotel Hotel, Stadium Road, Port Harcourt venue of his 60th Birthday celebration on Saturday.

“I honestly feel happy coming here to celebrate with you. I know what it means to live every day, when you are in a certain position, it is not comfort that keeps you. Every day when you wake up, you give God all the glory and pray that you see the next day. I join other voices to wish you the best.

“At this particular time in our country and in our state, all we do as friends and good people of our state is to support the development of our state genuinely. You have listed the few projects we are embarking on and those we intend to do. I am not from Kalabari but I know the importance of that road, (Trans Kalabari Road project). I believe strongly that what I will be remembered for is not what I do for my Opobo people, but what I do in every part of the state,” Fubara said.

He added that it was time to return the state to the path of love and unity to enable it to progress, calling on the people to work together to move the state forward.

The governor who was accompanied by other top government officials at the event congratulated the celebrant for clocking Sixty, describing him as a great leader who realized his calling earlier in life and followed it to fulfil his destiny, stating that he is proud to identify with him.

Fubara appreciated the support of the celebrant for his administration and urged him to deploy his energies and resources to the service of the state and assured of the partnership of his administration with him to move the state forward.

On his part, the celebrant, Alhaji Asari Dokubo thanked the Governor for attending his 60th birthday and assured him of his support for the administration.

He recalled with nostalgia the hectic days of his upbringing and prison experience where he had close shaves with death but survived by the prayers, goodwill of people and the grace of God.

Alhaji Dokubo commended the Governor for embarking on the Trans Kalabari road project and pleaded with him to continue to open the coastal lines for business activities and tourism to thrive.
